“Media Requests Continue To Pour In For Indiantown,
Fla. Native”
INDIANTOWN, Florida (February 19, 2010) - - With the Tire
Kingdom 150 presented by ModSpace just over a week away,
the media and appearance requests for ARCA Racing Series
driver Patrick Sheltra continue to pile-in.
Sheltra’s home in Indiantown, Fla. is about 15 minutes
from Jupiter’s Palm Beach (Fla.) International Raceway
allowing the 23-year to enjoy the luxuries of being at home
while gunning towards his first ever-road course victory
next weekend.
Still riding high following his impressive fifth place
performance at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway earlier
this month, Sheltra stands a strong chance of starting next
Saturday’s event as the ARCA point’s leader
giving the rising star control of that stat for only the
second time in his stock car career. Last April, Sheltra
held the lead briefly following his first career win at
Salem (Ind.) Speedway and a stout second at Rockingham (N.C.)
Speedway.
The early season success has prompted local and state media
to draw attention to the four-year ARCA veteran with several
media opportunities and fan interaction leaning into the
second race of the season starting this weekend.
On Sunday, February 21 Sheltra will join ARCA newcomer
Blake Koch at the “Night of Speed” presented
by WFLX hosted at the Downtown at The Gardens (11701 Lake
Victoria Gardens Avenue, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 33410)
from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., signing autographs and taking
pictures with fans in support of the Palm Beach event. In
addition, WLFX Fox 29’s Rachel Leigh will be there
covering the event and is expected to interview Sheltra.
Next Wednesday (February 24) Sheltra will visit the Indiantown
YMCA and talk to over 100 children about what it’s
like to be a racecar driver while also signing autographs
and taking pictures with the youngsters. Sheltra will also
judge a coloring contest based around the design of his
racecar.
“Mr. Showtime”, Sheltra’s nickname in
racing is also scheduled to be interviewed by the Palm Beach
Post and the Stuart News with additional requests surfacing
from internet and radio over the course of the next eight
days.
“There’s a lot of great opportunities happening
for me within the next week and we’re going to be
out there with the local media pumping our team, the ARCA
race and the track,” said Sheltra. “Palm Beach
is really a home town race for me and I know the stands
will be packed with Sheltra fans; so I really want to go
out there and thank the community for their support and
hopefully bring them a big win next Saturday.”
Sheltra continued, “We should put on a pretty good
show for the fans next weekend. The track is really fast
with some extremely tight and slow corners, so it’s
going to be crucial for someone like me who doesn’t
have a lot of road course experience to stay focused and
stay on track. If we can do that and I know we can –
we should be in the hunt with a couple laps to go. There
won’t be a dull moment next weekend.”
