ARCA RE/MAX Series, Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150
Kentucky Speedway, Sparta, Kentucky
Practice Notes & Quotes
Saturday, May 10, 2008
Under gorgeous racing conditions, over 40 ARCA RE/MAX Series
(ARS) teams participated in the first and only practice
session for tonight’s Drive Smart! Buckle Up Kentucky
150. The teams utilized the one hour and forty five minute
“test” session to make adjustments and tweak
their machines in preparation for this afternoon’s
ARCA SIM Factory Pole qualifying slated to begin at 3:30pm
EST.
The 16th ARCA RE/MAX Series event at Kentucky Speedway
is the site of the Sheltra Motorsports return to the Chrysler
nameplate. At Kansas Speedway last month, the Whitesville,
Kentucky based team rolled out their brand new Dodge Charger
with impressive results. After practicing in the top-five
for much of the session Patrick Sheltra, the sophomore ARCA
driver busted our a career-best qualifying effort (eighth),
leading his first career laps and yielding his second top-10
finish of the season.
The team has brought that same piece to Kentucky Speedway
this weekend. The team is confident with the similar characteristics
that the 1.5-mile speed plant shows with Kansas Speedway;
they will be able to back-up their performance in the first
night ARCA race of the season tonight.
Kentucky Speedway also holds a sentimental value to Sheltra.
In last year’s Buckle-Up 150, the Indiantown, Florida
native attracted his first career top-10 finish in RE/MAX
competition after maneuvering from his 23rd place qualifying
effort to finish ninth.
Practice was postponed for 45 minutes with cars tackling
the Sparta, Kentucky facility shortly after 11:15am EST.

Notes of Interest:
· Sheltra Motorsports will run a mixture of Dodge
Chargers and Chevrolet Monte Carlos during the 2008 ARCA
RE/MAX Series season. For Kentucky, Sheltra Motorsports
will run a Dodge Charger purchased from NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series team; Penske Racing. This is the same automobile
the team competed with in the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand
which yielded an eighth place finish after starting eighth.
RC Consultants will provide the horsepower for the sophomore
ARCA team.
· Sheltra currently maintains a point’s position
in the top-10 (seventh) heading into Kentucky Speedway this
weekend. Sheltra moved into the top-10 in the series’
second race of the season at Salem Speedway and has remained
locked in the top-10 since. The Indiantown, Florida native
is just 95 markers from entering the top-five and 210 credits
from the number one position held by SunTrust Rookie-of-the-Year
candidate Matt Carter. Last year, the 21-year old superstar
finished seventh in the championship standings competing
in 22 of the scheduled 23 events.
· Sheltra will make 400 left hand turns on Saturday
night, eight hundred forty eight (848) less turns than last
Sunday afternoon at the 1.0-mile track of Rockingham Speedway.
In addition to running a full 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule,
Sheltra will also run a limited schedule in the NASCAR Craftsman
Truck Series (No. 35) and compete in selected dirt late
model events (UMP and WoO Series) throughout the United
States.
Patrick Sheltra, driver of
the No. 60 Ferguson Pipe-FloraGanics Dodge:
“We went out on older tires to start off the session
and we weren’t bad. We put on stickers and we became
real good. The car will plant itself good around the track;
we just need to make a few minor tweaks to seal the deal.
It appears to be a little stronger field than Kansas. We
had a good lap going on our mock-qualifying run, but we
were held up behind a slower car.”
Sheltra continued, “Night racing will change the
affect of this race. Luckily for us, we know what worked
last year and we think that with our Dodge Charger and our
motor powered by RC Consultants, we’re going to be
stout.”
“We should be in contention for our first career-win
tonight,” concluded Sheltra.
The Drive Smart! Buckle Up Kentucky 150 (150 miles/100
laps) is the sixth of 21 events on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX
Series schedule. The first of two events held at Kentucky
Speedway this season is a one-day show. ARCA SIM Factory
pole qualifying is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. The field
will take the green flag shortly after 8:00 p.m. The race
will not be televised but additional race coverage including
live timing and scoring will be available online at arcaracing.com.
