ARCA Racing Series Race No. 17, Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers
200,
Toledo (Oh.) Speedway, Toledo, Ohio
Race Information: Event: Northwest Ohio
Ford Dealers 200, Sunday, September 12 at 2:00 p.m. Local
Time Track: Toledo Speedway Qualifying: Saturday, September
11, at 3:30 p.m. Local Time; Track Length: .5-mile paved-oval.
Last Time Out; Du Quoin State Fairgrounds: On
the heels of two consecutive victories in the ARCA Racing
Series (ARS) presented by RE/MAX and Menards, Indiantown,
Florida native returned to the one-mile clay oval looking
to complete the Illinois sweep. After practicing in the
top-10, a mechanical gremlin in qualifying kept Sheltra
from notching his first ever ARCA pole. However, after starting
16th, Sheltra wasted no time moving his No. 60 Performance
Vehicle Works Dodge Charger to the front. Quickly, Sheltra
moved into the top-10 before feathering into the top-five
and despite a changing track and numerous cautions Sheltra
was forced to hang on for a fourth place finish, his ninth
top-five run of the year and his best finish at the Du Quoin
(Ill.) State Fairgrounds since 2008.
Returning To The Buckeye State: For the
eighth time in his ARCA Racing Series career, Patrick Sheltra
will take the green flag at Toledo Speedway Sunday afternoon.
In seven prior efforts at the Northern Ohio short track,
Sheltra has maneuvered two top-five finishes including a
runner-up finish in May 2008. Additionally, Sheltra has
posted two additional top-10 runs including an eighth place
finish in the most recent ARCA race at Toledo in May’s
Menards 200 by Federated Car Care. Sheltra’s average
finishing position is 13th at ARCA’s home-town facility.
Bring Me To Life: For the 17th race of
the year, Sheltra and crew chief Jon Wolfe mutually agreed
to repair Sheltra Motorsports chassis No. 10, a former Richard
Childress Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for Sunday’s
anticipated thrilled. Last raced at Toledo Speedway in the
spring of 2009, the automobile has since sat dormant from
racing action until the repair. The team has also transformed
the hot rod, which is responsible for Sheltra’s best
outing at Toledo Speedway, a second in 2008 to a Dodge Charger
for the Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers 200.
Autographs Anyone?: Race fans will receive
an opportunity to meet one of the hottest drivers on the
ARCA tour this weekend. After his duties at the track on
Sunday morning, Sheltra will participate in pre-race activities
at the half-mile oval by participating in the traditional
on-track autograph signing from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
local time.

New Record Set; But Thirsty For More: While
eclipsing his ninth top-five finish of the year at the Du
Quoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds, Patrick Sheltra continues
to rewrite his own personal record books for the number
of finishes inside the top-five and top-10 for a full-season.
In his previous three full-time seasons, Sheltra had posted
a season high of four top-five finishes in 2009. Sheltra’s
personal best overall season of nine top-10 finishes in
2008 was overtaken again by his performance in the Southern
Illinois 100. Thus far in 2010, Sheltra has mastered two
wins, nine top-fives and 13 top-10 finishes in 16 races.
Sheltra is hoping to expand his new personal record with
four races remaining this year.
Point’s Check: 16 races down, four
to go, Sheltra with the guidance of crew chief Jon Wolfe
sits first in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings
accumulating 3870 points and tied with fellow racer Tom
Hessert for the top-spot. The driver nicknamed “Mr.
Showtime” rose from third to first with his impressive
performance in the Southern Illinois 100 at the Du Quoin
(Ill.) State Fairgrounds. The 24-year old Sheltra also controls
the first position in the ARS car owner standings. The top-seven
ARCA Racing Series drivers are separated by just 175 points
to the leader for control of the top spot in the championship
chase. Earlier this year, Sheltra held the top-spot for
three consecutive races (Toledo, Michigan and Pocono) in
a row after also sharing the top-spot with Parker Kligerman
for one race (Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway) in 2009.
Sheltra’s Covered In Special Point Standings
Too: While the Sheltra Motorsports team is searching
for their first championship, the team is still after a
host of other awards too. Patrick Sheltra and mother Grace
Sheltra leads the ARCA “special points” Superspeedway
Challenge sector. Car owner Grace Sheltra leads Kevin Cywinski
(No. 32) by a 90-point gap entering the final speedway race
of the season at Kansas Speedway on September 30. Currently,
Patrick Sheltra is first in the CGS Imaging Hard Charger,
first in the Racing Electronics Lighting Challenge and first
in the Fast Track High Performance Driving School award.
Nice Statistic; Solid Stats: By posting
his 13th top-10 finish of the season at the Du Quoin (Ill.)
State Fairgrounds on September 6, Sheltra is the only driver
in the ARCA Racing Series to finish inside the top-10 in
13 of the 16 races completed thus far in 2010. Sheltra kicked
off his strongest start to an ARCA season with a fifth place
performance at Daytona, a 10th place performance at Palm
Beach, a fourth place run at Salem Speedway, a seventh place
outing at Texas Motor Speedway, his season-best second at
‘Dega, an eighth at Toledo Speedway, a fourth place
run at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a third place outing in the
Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan International Speedway,
a sixth place at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a second-place outing
in the Berlin ARCA 200 at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, a 13th
place outing at New Jersey Motorsports Park and most recently,
a win on the dirt at the Illinois State Fairgrounds and
another win at Chicagoland Speedway, and a fourth place
result in round number 16 at the Du Quoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds.
Patrick Sheltra ARCA Career At-A-Glance:
Entering Toledo, Sheltra has 82 ARCA Racing Series presented
by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with three career
victories at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009), the Illinois
State Fairgrounds (August 2010) and Chicagoland Speedway
(August 2010). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated
18 top-fives and posted 34 top-10 finishes. A second place
qualifying effort at Chicagoland Speedway (August 2010)
is Sheltra’s best time trials effort to date. He has
controlled the ARCA field nine times for 273 laps.

Sheltra Motorsports, Toledo
Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Patrick Sheltra, driver / owner
of the No. 60 PatrickSheltra.com / Ferguson Pipe Enterprises
Dodge Charger.
On The Du Quoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds:
“After the disappointing finish we had there in 2009,
I was pleased to leave there with another top-five. I wanted
the Illinois sweep but circumstances out of control kept
us from doing that. It doesn’t matter though, the
team worked their tails off and gave me a completely rebuilt
car and we were fast! I appreciate their efforts and we’ll
get a third win of the year here soon.”
On Toledo Speedway: “Toledo has
been a decent place for me over the years. I know what I
need to do this weekend and that’s do what we’ve
been doing over the last month or two. Using my head, keeping
the fenders clean and staying the near the front will keep
our championship dream alive.”
On Resurrecting Chassis No. 10: “It’s
always been a good racecar at Sheltra Motorsports. It’s
a shame that it was torn up last May here but we really
felt if we wanted to have a shot at winning the race on
Sunday, this car could help us do it. I have to thank Performance
Vehicle Works for the magnificent job they did transforming
the car to a Dodge. I’m happy to put this car back
on the race track.”
On The Goal For Sunday: “For 13
races this year, we’ve been able to finish in the
top-10. That’s our number goal on Sunday. I want to
win, just like every driver and team does but if Sunday
isn’t our day to do that again this year but we can
escape Toledo with a top-10 run, we’ll take it. Points
are so critical at this stage in the game, we just need
to grab as many of them as we possibly can.”
On Points: “Obviously, the points
are still extremely tight. We’ll be thinking about
point’s on Sunday. We have too. My main priority is
to leave Toledo Speedway on Sunday with the same position
we did entering Toledo, first. We’ll move on to Salem
Speedway and do it all over again.”
