| Patrick Sheltra Returns To MacDonald Motorsports
For Kansas
“Buffalo Wings & Rings; MC2 Energy Drink To
Sponsor No. 81 Entry”
THOMASVILLE, North Carolina (September 28, 2009) - - Officials
from Sheltra Motorsports announced today that ARCA RE/MAX
Series veteran driver Patrick Sheltra will reunite with
MacDonald Motorsports and return to the cockpit of the No.
81 Buffalo Wings & Rings-MC2 Energy Drink Dodge Charger
for Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) event
at Kansas Speedway.
Sheltra, a native of Indiantown, Florida will make his
fourth career NNS start and second of the season. In July,
the 23-year old made his return to Daytona International
Speedway since surviving a catastrophic accident in the
ARCA season opener in February. Sheltra posted a career
best qualifying effort only to be knocked out in a mid-race
incident while running in the top-15.
Buffalo Wings & Rings and Sheltra Motorsports’s
newest marketing partner MC2 Energy Drink will take the
reins of primary marketing partners for the Kansas Lottery
300.
“I’m excited and thankful about getting another
shot in a Nationwide car this weekend,” said Sheltra,
who will have a double-duty weekend while competing in the
ARCA RE/MAX Series Kansas Lottery 150 on Thursday. “I
appreciate the support of MacDonald Motorsports, Buffalo
Wings & Rings and MC2 Energy Drink for stepping up to
the plate to make this possible.”
Sheltra will make his inaugural NASCAR debut at Kansas
but the racing phenom pulled together a very competitive
eighth place finish in last year’s ARCA RE/MAX Series
event which included his first laps of controlling the field.
“I am shooting for a top-20 finish this weekend,”
offered Sheltra. “This is the same car we raced at
Homestead-Miami Speedway last year and we were able to come
away with a solid top-25 run, so I’m hoping for a
little bit more this weekend.”
MacDonald Motorsports crew chief David Ingram will call
the shots for Sheltra with 2005 NASCAR Camping World Truck
Series Champion Ted Musgrave serving as Sheltra’s
driving coach. Seven additional members of the Sheltra Motorsports
clan will also pull double duty this weekend and assist
the MacDonald Motorsports team on race day for the 29th
race of the season.
“I enjoyed working with David (Ingram) at Daytona
even though it was a whole different ball game,” Sheltra
sounded. “David will be on-hand for the ARCA race
on Thursday so I think him sitting on top of the pit box
with my ARCA team will benefit us Saturday.”
Sheltra continued, “It’s been amazing spending
the last couple months with Ted. He has really helped me
mature as a driver and I think with his guidance our goal
of finishing in the top-20 is feasible.”
The event will mark the first time that Buffalo Wings &
Rings, Sheltra’s primary marketing partner in the
ARCA RE/MAX Series will adorn the hood for a NASCAR event.
The fastest-growing privately owned franchised chain of
restaurants in the nation served as an associate marketing
partner at Daytona.
In addition, MC2 Energy Drink will spawn its first NASCAR
run with the dirt late model ace on Saturday afternoon.
The team’s No. 81 entry will look identical to Sheltra’s
half-neon and half-camouflage ARCA machine to be run on
Thursday.
“To run identical cars at Kansas this weekend is
big and really cool,” Sheltra responded. “However
to have the opportunity to bring Buffalo Wings & Rings
along and grasp the opportunity to work with MC2 is even
bigger. I’m just hoping to do everyone a good job
and bring home a finish we all can be proud of.”
Sheltra, nicknamed “Mr. Showtime” for his unique
and thrilling driving style has been spending the 2009 season
competing full-time in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Currently,
after 19 races, he sits eighth in points with one win, four
top-fives and eight top-10 finishes. Sheltra recorded his
first career win in the second race of the season at Salem
Speedway after recovering from his injuries from Daytona
International Speedway in February.
The Kansas Lottery 300 (200 laps / 300 miles) is the 29th
of 35 events on the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule.
The annual Fall tradition is a two-day show. Practice begins
