| Patrick Sheltra Completes First NASCAR Nationwide
Series Practice At Kansas
KANSAS CITY, Kansas (October 2, 2009) - - ARCA RE/MAX Series
(ARS) veteran driver Patrick Sheltra tackled his first NASCAR
Nationwide Series (NNS) laps at Kansas Speedway Friday afternoon
trying to dial in his No. 81 Buffalo Wings & Rings-MC2
Energy Drink Dodge Charger for tomorrow’s Kansas Lottery
300.
Sheltra, fresh off an 11th place finish in Thursday’s
Kansas Lottery 150 ARCA RE/MAX Series campaign posted the
34th fastest lap by maneuvering a time of 33.128 seconds
at 163.004 miles per hour.
“We’re fighting a bad tight condition in the
center of the corner,” said Sheltra, who will make
his second NASCAR Nationwide Series start this season Saturday.
“David (Ingram, Crew Chief) went to work and tried
to adjust our Buffalo Wings & Rings-MC2 Energy Drink
Dodge Charger to make it better for qualifying and the race
tomorrow.”
Sheltra added, “These Nationwide cars are really
a lot different than the ARCA RE/MAX Series cars. I know
from my experience last year that these Nationwide motor
really don’t have any pull and it showed today compared
to yesterday. We’re going to keep working on our car
and hope to get it better for the final practice this evening.”
Sheltra made 32 laps on the 1.5-mile oval during the hour
and a half session with Sheltra’s fastest lap being
just 1.061 seconds behind session leader and championship
point’s leader Kyle Busch.
Sheltra will make his fourth career NASCAR Nationwide Series
start Saturday and second for MacDonald Motorsports. Sheltra
competed in the final two NNS events of the 2008 season
at Phoenix International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway
and made his dramatic return to Daytona International Speedway
in July after surviving a potential career-ending accident
in the ARCA RE/MAX Series season opener in February driving
the No. 81 Dodge for MacDonald Motorsports. Sheltra will
make at least one more Nationwide Series appearance in 2009
by partaking in the Ford 300 in November at Homestead-Miami
Speedway.
The Kansas Lottery 300 (200 laps / 300 miles) is the 29th
of 35 events on the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule.
The annual Fall tradition is a two-day show. A final practice
session has been etched in on Friday night from 5:00 p.m.
– 6:00 p.m. Qualifying is set for Saturday, October
3 set to roll off at 9:05 a.m. The event will take the green
flag shortly after 2:30 p.m. The event will televised live
on ESPN2 with a pre-race show scheduled to lift off at 2:00
p.m. All times are local.
