| Sheltra Motorsports’ John Hayden Set For
Halloween Rumble
SALEM, Indiana (October 22, 2009) - - Sheltra Motorsports’
ARCA RE/MAX Series Crew Chief John Hayden will trade in
his wrenches and radio for a driver’s uniform and
steering wheel as the former ARCA driver will tackle Salem
Speedway for the traditional Halloween 200 by Smoker Friendly
Discount Tobacco late model event this Sunday.
Hayden, a native of Livermore, Kentucky has made four of
his 12 career ARCA starts at legendary short track spanning
from 2001-2005. However, it was his role as crew chief where
Hayden celebrated in victory lane with Indiantown, Florida
native Patrick Sheltra at Salem this past April. It was
Sheltra’s first career victory and Hayden’s
inaugural win atop of the pit box.
Now, Hayden sets his sights on returning to victory lane
this time as the driver.
“I’ve always been a big fan of Salem,”
said Hayden, who holds a career best ARCA finish of third
at Nashville Superspeedway in 2002. “The Halloween
race at Salem is a big deal for the drivers and fans. It’s
a race where you don’t have to worry about points;
you can go out there have fun and try to win. The car should
be good; I haven’t raced it in a while, but I have
a good feeling about Sunday.”
Owensboro, Kentucky business Tim Pedley’s Truck &
Trailer has agreed to sponsor Hayden’s No. 85 Chevrolet
for the track’s final event of the year.
“I appreciate Tim Pedley’s helping me out this
weekend,” offered Hayden. “They are a good company
who have helped a lot of people in racing; their willingness
to sponsor the car means a lot.”
In addition to his role of driver and crew chief in the
ARCA RE/MAX Series, Hayden also has 16 NASCAR Nationwide
Series starts to his credit.
