The Sheltra Motorsports team entered a pair of Dirt Late Model events in the Hoosier State of Indiana on May 30-31. Patrick Sheltra and his #23 team had a great weekend to close out the month of May, as they recorded a pair of Top Five finishes. On Friday night, May 30, Patrick won his heat race at the Union County Speedway in Liberty, Indiana to advance to the $1,500 to win main event. The Indiantown, Florida native then ran a solid race in the A-Main to register a fifth place performance behind winner Tim Prince, Derek Fisher, Troy Cruse, and Shawn Negangard.

The dirt-slinging action then turned to the Kamp Motor Speedway in Boswell, Indiana on Saturday evening, May 31. The Sunoco American Late Model Series (ALMS) invaded Kamp and a $2,000 top prize was up for grabs. Patrick was third quickest in group qualifying and later won his heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the second row for the feature event, "Mr. Showtime" wound up fourth in the final rundown behind winner Brian Ruhlman, Tyler Boggs, and Kerry Mathew. With an off-night from ARCA racing activities, avid racecar driver Patrick Sheltra headed to Union County Speedway in Liberty, Indiana hoping to secure his first dirt victory of the season. He succeed in spectacular fashion leading all but five laps of his 30-lap feature to take the win Friday night.

Sheltra, driving his camouflaged No. 23 Brady Ranch-Sheltra & Son Construction-All About Flowers Chevrolet Monte Carlo started third and quickly sought the two leaders before overtaking them early in the run. Sheltra kept his competition at bay to score his first major triumph of the 2008 season.

“This is awesome,” said Sheltra. “I have to thank my entire dirt team for all of their hard work. We had a great night and a strong car. Hopefully tonight’s victory can lead into a much bigger win in Sunday’s ARCA race.”

Earlier in the night, Sheltra advanced to the feature after finishing second in his heat.
